Ashley Judd

While this was a minor role for Judd, your conclusion that her "film career never took off," seems flawed. She has made substantial films, many of them teaming her successfully with Morgan Freeman, and has reportedly earned film salaries as high as $4 milion. I think she often displays an effective combination of strength and vulnerability, drawing upon her southern roots.

Have you seen 'Where The Heart Is'? She's good in it. She may not have won big awards but she has had a career.

I didn't think she had a big enough role in this to even qualify for sub-par or even great for that matter. What was so wrong with her performance? She looked fantastic in this!

This isn't a great film to judge her abilities or her career as she was a bit player. As much as I enjoy Grisham books, her character in the source material for this movie didn't give her much to work from and she did an alright job with what she had to work with.
