Thank God Matthew McConaughey didn't...

Thank God Matthew McConaughey didn't play Freddie Lee Cobb. I read that he was cast in that part, but wanted to play Jake Brigance. He was great as Brigance and he would've been so miscast as Freddie Lee Cobb.

Also, I found it funny how Woody Harrelson wanted to play Brigance and John Grisham objected. I never heard anything about the other actors considered where Grisham specifically "objected." I'm glad nobody else played the part. The other actors considered for the part were all talented actors, but I just couldn't see them in the part. And I don't think many actors could've pulled off the ending scene in the court room like McConaughey did. With this movie being based on a John Grisham novel, The Firm comes to mind. And another one of my favorite trial movies, A Few Good Men, comes to mind. If Jake Brigance wasn't a Southerner, I think Tom Cruise should've been considered for the part. Could he have pulled off that ending in the courtroom like McConaughey did? I don't know.
