Through this entire film, EVERYONE sweats profusely! I didn't see one air conditioner being used through the entire film, not even in the courthouse. Even the judge was sweating his butt off! WTH was the reasoning in that?

That's always been a gripe people have with this movie...maybe because everything else with it is so amazing it's the only negative people can find. Who knows.
I will say the deep south's humidity is worse than dry heat so air conditioning can only do so much. Plus dude was broke so he probably didn't want to spend the money for his house and office to remain cold.
I wasn't trying to be funny at all. I just wanted an answer to my question. Sure, it's a great movie but seeing all of those sweaty people is just plain disgusting. Maybe you enjoy seeing it but I don't.

If we learn anything from Hollywood it's that southern court rooms are hotter than hell.
shareOne way you can get a better idea,look at the car's and the way the people are dress, but this is the lower part of the south. Mississippi was a little slow to change. Southern really enjoy the small town feel, but it's there way of keeping control of their on money.They love small time government, they can embezzle funds from citizens,but my guess late 1960.
