I thought Rowark didn't wear underwear?

but when the rednecks tie her up and strip her there she is in black panties...just sayin'

reply

Your point??? And does it really matter...

reply

It was the Matthew McConnaghy character who didn't in one scene, because his wife was out of town, and he didn't do any laundry.

reply

I don't remember her ever saying she didn't wear underwear. And I'm pretty sure I would remember that.

she said she hadn't worn underwear in years

Who cares about stairs? The main thing is ice cream.

I think he is saying he wanted to see Sandra's a**! Although I prefered that it be in another context.

reply

The subject of underwear comes up once and only once in the entire film.

Roark - "Just take off your pants"
Brigance - "Come on, do I look that easy?"
Roark - "Afraid I'll see your underwear?"
Brigance - "With Carla gone the laundry's piling up. I'm not wearing any."

Nowhere in the movie does Roark make any reference about her wearing or not wearing underwear.

to which she replies 'that's ok, I haven't worn any in years'

"to which she replies 'that's ok, I haven't worn any in years'

I'd forgotten about that. Point taken.

But that doesn't mean it's wrong for her to be wearing underwear in the scene where she was brutalized. It could easily be taken as a throwaway line to put Brigance at ease in a tough moment. It wasn't a forceful, declarative statement, nor was she under oath.

Not to mention the ratings problems such a sight would have caused.

reply

...yeah, and then the scene where Freddie Lee Cobb ties her up, he says he's gonna leave there tied up "naked", and then he doesn't even strip her down naked, wtf... Why didn't we get to see Sandra Bullock naked, after all that teasing, I was disappointed. lol

reply

Probably because Sandra Bullock doesn't do nudity. The scene was probably written that he strips her completely but they wanted Sandra in the role and she doesn't go that far so they kept the line but let her keep her undies on.

They could have used a body double but that kind of thing is often more distracting than anything else.

reply

Exactly. And As if the kkk would have hesistated in gang banging her. Seemed like such a hollywood type kidnapping with no sense of reality

reply

To be honest, when I first watched this movie, when Roark said she hadn't worn any in years I figured it was just banter and she was exaggerating.

reply

immediately after that she says how she "hasn't worn any in years".
pay attention guys.

reply

Clearly this is a huge and tremendous plot hole that ruins the story! D:

reply

She lied, okay?

reply

ROFLMAO at all of the posters that just don't get it. Yes, she wears underwear, likely all the time. She made her "I haven't worn underwear in years" comment for shock value. Her way of flirting, nothing more.
