What an awful and ridiculous film

This movie sucks so back on rewatching. I'm from MS and can tell you this isn't remotely close to Mississippi in the 90s the sweating, crazy violence, and KKK nonsense was laughable. I was waiting for an "I do declare!!". So so bad. Typical Hollywood *beep*

Read the book. It's awesome.

I agree.. I really enjoyed the book but the film is typical Hollywood.. it's become more about the flirting between Roark and Jake than the actual case. I think the most ridiculous part is when the house is burned down and Max comes running up to Jake. Oh, and the fact that they changed it so that the shooting was committed in front of every major character. Why does Hollywood feel the need to make these ridiculous changes?

The book is much better than the film. I recently watched this movie after not seeing it in years and it hasn't aged well with the typical Hollywood smoking scenes that pop up and Sandra Bullock appears too puppy dog after Matthew which sidetracks the film unnecessarily..she was miscast -

It's a shame because I really like Sandra Bullock but this film doesn't do her justice.

Does anyone else not realize what a horrible precedent the ruling at the end could set?

OK so it's legally acceptable to murder someone in cold blood when they are in handcuffs because they rape your daughter, I agree those two scumbags deserved what they got but legally they were still entitled to a fair trial just as everyone else is. So this case opens up the door and says there are some circumstances where it is OK to kill in cold blood without any kind of due process, so do they same circumstances apply if someone is driving drunk and hits and kills your wife? Burglarizes your house when you aren't home and steal your computer? Push your son on the playground? Sell you some bad milk? Gives you a bad look?

I know some people will claim that I am trying to defend a bunch of racist rapists and I'm not, I'm defending the rule of law.
