Capt Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters

I love the name, but the concept is not historically accurate.

Most if not all of the beach party films, that is, the official AIP entries with Annette and Frankie, as well as the many imitations (e.g. The Girls on the Beach, Surf Party, It`s a Bikini World, Catalina Caper) featured real bands as themselves. The fact that The Animals, The Supremes, Little Stevie Wonder, Dick Dale & the Del-Tones, The Astronauts, etc., were in the films playing themselves added extra marquee value to the features.

To be more like real life, The Wonders would not be called anything else but "The Wonders" in the "Rick and Anita" beach opus, and would perform at least one song (hit or otherwise) to a dancing crowd of teenagers (middle-aged or otherwise), with close-ups of Guy, Jimmy, Lenny, and TB.

Absolutely right. All the beach party movies featured real life bands. Their presence in the films helped promote the band's AND the movies. Arguably, there would be no Stevie Wonder today if not for his appearances in Muscle Beach Party and Bikini Beach.

You're right. Nonetheless, I still loved the ridiculous name, and how Steve Zahn delivered it!:)

Oh man in the radio interview after when the DJ is asking asking for their musical influences. Lenny saying this band and that look Mr. White gives him. CLASSIC
