Michael Jordan's HORRIBLE acting ruined the movie

It's only "OK" and watchable because of the Toons and the music.

Michael Jordan really deserved a Razzie Award for his performance!

But maybe the jurors of the Razzies are blind fanboys of Michael
just the same as the ridiculous persons who gave this a 10.
Over 7800 people gave it a 10 - I can't believe it!

Even if you are a fan of Michael you cannot ignore, that he
expressed no (or the wrong!) emotion in his "performance"
and emphasized every second line totally wrong and silly.

For every sane person (who is not just a blind fanboy)
his performance is really painful to watch.

And comments like "It's only a kid's movie" are just a lame excuse
(meaning basically: "Kid's deserve a bad movie with bad acting")
No, kid's deserve better! And there are a lot of kid's movies
with good acting - so forget the excuse.

(Besides: It's NOT a kid's movie, it's a family movie and was
intentionally made for adults also, because a lot of allusions,
remarks and jokes are only understandable for adults!)

I think the terrible writing was worse. A bad actor, or in this case bad acting, can be helped with decent writing. But when both are bad then you have a disaster.

In his defence,

He is not an actor and I don't think he really claims to be one, the opportunity came up and he gave it his best shot.

Most of the scenes would have been shot without any other actors/characters as he largely talked to animation, which would make things harder.

But obviously you're right, to say his acting wasn't flash is talking him up; he was better at baseball than acting.....

In defence of the Fans giving it a 10 -

Many would have seen it as a small child and idolised the movie, it's plausible that some would still rate this as there favourite movie, largely because it's connected with favourite childhood memory's.

It's rated very low, now a 5.9 but previously a 5.4, some people would definitely give it a 10 as a 'counter weight'.

But once again you are right, it's obviously not a 10/10 and it's dating poorly.

Did you really watch this movie with the intention and purpose of seeing a brilliant, or even decent, acting performance by Jordan? First of all he's a basketball player not an actor, and second, HE'S PLAYING HIMSELF!!!

Space Jam was his first movie as a leading actor and not only that but most of his scenes were surrounded by green screens, interacting with places, objects and characters that don't exist!

This was a love letter to Michael Jordan, I don't even criticize his acting, they were using his image to sell a lot of merchandise,
The funny thing is that the people behind the movie were using Michael Jordan the same way the Evil Alien wanted to use him, to sell crap to kids... this whole movie is a huge oxymoron, HUGE Contradiction.
the studio is acting as the evil alien guy and we are the audience of Moron Mountain
WE ARE THE PEOPLE INSIDE MORON MOUNTAIN.... The movie theaters were MORON MOUNTAIN
