Parallels with Bad Santa

I'm a huge fan of both films and watched both recently. Anybody else notice the similarities between the two ...almost as though Bad Santa is a comical spin-off of Sling Blade. Examples:

Doyle is the evil twin of Santa. Same character (voice, drinking, fits of rage, etc.) Just that Doyle is truly evil while Santa is basically a good guy inside.

Fatherless boy in trouble. The kid in Bad Santa lost his dad to jail while Frank's killed himself. Billy Bob's character rescues both boys.

John Ritter. Even though they're good friends, Ritter is in both movies with Billy Bob, playing very similar characters.

Little people. Doyle mentions he's afraid of midgets. A midget is Santa's main supporting actor.

I'm sure there are more but that's all I can think of. Do you notice any parallels between these two superb films?
