Would like to see a sequel.

Here it is close to 20 years on I would like to see a sequel to Sling Blade.

Perhaps Karl is going to get out again, his health is bad and the state wants to get rid of him. Frank is grown up and now a mess, Vaughn has died. Another man like Doyle has come and gone in the Wheatley's life leaving Linda a hot mess and Frank sits in the middle of it all.

Perhaps Frank takes in Karl for his last months of life and Karl in his simplicity convinces Frank to NOT take a self destructive path much like what landed him in the mental hospital. The man who replaced Doyle is back in town and Frank is feeling the urge to get rid of him, the same way Karl got rid of Doyle.

Most likely Linda will become a good grandmother type who gives up completely on men. She spends all her time spoiling Frank's children, her grandchildren. For some reason I think Frank will turn out OK. I could see him as a simple minded redneck who is good to his wife and the only time any trouble comes between them is when Linda interferes with their marriage. As for Karl, I could see the state wanting to release him as an old man so they wouldn't have to care for him. I can't see Frank willing to take him back and relive that painful part of his childhood.

This was always one of my favorite movies. I always wished they'd make a sequel. Just release Karl again after all these years and let's see what happens. Give him another chance. Would Billy Bob not do it again?

As much as I am into movies I can't believe it took me twenty years to finally see this one. I saw it a few hours ago and funny I thought about a sequel myself, yet there is a part of me that sometimes thinks films like this should never have a sequel. I guess it should only happen if Billy Bob gets hit with a strong story idea with this character. Sometimes one film is enough, but I know as a viewer there are characters we get caught up in and really are interested in what happens to them later on in the years. Some film makers allow this to happen and sometimes we as viewers are happy or not happy with the results. So Karl I guess he is either still looking out that window, met his maker or walking down that road to some unknown fate... Till it either happens on the screen or not it is up to your imagination for his fate. Cheers.
