Aww man I miss John Ritter!

He's so great in this movie!
I've liked him ever since I was a little kid and watching this again after all these years I just feel like we've lost one of the true greats and It's sad.

I consider myself lucky to have been a witness to his career!

I agree.

I rarely care one whit when some actor cashes in beyond the basic human compassion. In other words, I care with regards to them being human and the loved ones that they left behind. I just don't lend extra concern to it like many folks do.

In this case however, I almost felt it as a personal loss.

Weird.

Exactly how I feel, on both counts. This was also the first serious role I saw him play, and he was every bit as talented with drama as he was comedy.

In lesser hands Vaughn would have been a ridiculous, one-dimensional caricature -- Ritter nailed it.

I'm convinced the first movie I saw him in was a made for TV movie where he was an abusive husband but got help with his anger issues, therefore salvaging his relationship (long time ago). Back then I had the True Movie channels and he often popped up in these movies but he may have had more mainstream roles. He's a good actor and I only learned recently he had passed away.

But I agree with other posters here in that sometimes the death of an actor can have a very profound effect. Robin Williams' death just broke my heart. He was so loved by a great many and left us a great legacy. Not just hos comedic roles but he was so moving in "What Dreams May Come". Saw that on Netflix the evening after he died I think. It seemed kind of an appropriate movie to remember him at that time.

One of his memorable scenes, taken from "Skin Deep", one of my favorite comedies:

I sure do miss him too!

My earliest memory of him was watching him play Ben Healy in Problem Child (my grandparents had the VHS).

He really could act and play both good guys and villains believably.

I can only imagine what great work he woukd have done / would be doing now if he was still with us. He was definitely taken way too soon.

He was multi-talented. Could play comedy or drama really well. Super nice guy too.
