Linda must be the worst mother I've ever seen in a movie.

How, just HOW can you see anything in a person like Doyle, who you know treats your son beyond levels of *beep* and not only that you let him move in to your house!!?? Makes Lois from Malcolm in the Middle look like a caring kind mother in comparison...

I've seen worse mothers than Linda in movies. She stuck up for herself and Frank as best she can. She even acknowledged the mean alcoholic person Doyle really is and we know she wants him out of her life but one thing she won't readily admit is that she is scared of him, and rightly so. Furthermore, getting a restraining order against him in that small town they live in would be useless, especially given how friendly Doyle is with the local police. That sort of thing happens A LOT in small towns, I've seen plenty of it - local troublemakers getting away with a lot of sh-- and never getting punished with it because their families are friendly with the local police force, or worse yet, have a family member that is on the police force.

How did they become together in the first place then?

reply

typical male behavior: woo her then abuse her

reply

She just wanted a little piece of happiness in her life.

reply

she is so bad.

reply

yeah she's definitely one of them for sure

reply

You sure ain't seen many movies then.

reply

Mothers who inflict their children with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome are the worst.

reply

"why did she stay" is typical victim-blaming bs.

reply

No it's not, it's a completely practical question..

reply

It's a simplistic question from people clueless about domestic violence. It puts the burden on the victim and lets the abuser off the hook

reply

I thought she was sweetheart and Doyle threatened to kill her if she left and possibly Frank too remember.
