Towards the end of the movie, both of the main characters are what appears to be an ambush. Four men, soldiers, dressed in black come down, along with gas. Can someone answer two questions for me
1) What was the entire point of the ambush?
2) You have four men dressed in black against two characters and yet all four men are defeated. How dumb can a squad be?
1. They were probably there to frame Waxman for the assassination. Why? Well this was the second time he failed to accomplish his mission... or whatever.
2. They were going up against Dolph, that's why.

NATHAN GAMBLE is a little GENIUS and i want him as my little brother.
Because it was cheese.
The more fun answer : The other sniper team, and the 4-man ambush squad are also mercenaries, much like Dolph's team.
These 6 mercs have probably never met before, and put together cost the same as Dolph's mercenary contract.
It is the only explanation for one of them falling as soon as he slides down his rope, and them all splitting up like dweebs without communicating rather than operating as a solid strike team.
Dolph's character must be ex-special forces, plus a body builder/martial artist, an accomplished sniper and "the best" according to the employer.
The other guys were probably ex-cops or gang members, except for the other sniper who killed the *beep* out of that car at the end.
