and this one is no exception. I don't think I have ever seen an actor I like make so many crappy films. I know a guy has to eat but this is ridiculous! Sure he is wooden, but lost of successful acors are and make good, entertaining films (keanu reeves, nick cage etc...) who the hell reads scripts for him, stevie wonder?

I, like most others, thought this was way above standard direct to video productions.

I hate statements like that. what do you base that on? so you have surveyed all the people who have seen this movie and you have processed the data and determined that MOST of them agree with you? you mean MOST of the posts you have read/people you have talked to etc. and that could be 5 or 5000...whatever it is it's statistically insignificant. On top of that I hate when people try to somehow validate their own opinion by saying that corresponds with MOST others. Even if it's true, agreeing with the majority does not make your opinion a fact or any more sound than mine. if you thought it was good, than that's cool, weather that is the opinion of MOST others or not...I thought it sucked like a ten dollar whore. I actually am a fan of Lundgren, I think he has some talent, it's just that he does appear in some crapfests thats for sure. I thought he was great in Johnny Mnemonic, although that movie is another less-than-great watch...

I'm gauging by the online reviews that I've read. A lot of folks tend to think this is one of the actor's better vehicles.
As for myself, I had reservations at first as the opener is a recycled situation we've seen in countless actioners.
It being aesthetically pleasing (and that it is. The movie is a treat to look at) just wasn't enough to hide the cliche.
But it grew on me, especially when the events moved to the present day.
It's my opinion that this is certainly a cut above the run of the mill straight to video stuff Lundgren was making at the time.
After watching it I found out who the director was and I can't say I was all that surprised. The Director of "Razorback" is truly a unique stylist in today's cinema.
A shame about that "Resident Evil" movie though...

I'm not saying that and resorting to such a tactic was not my intention. I'm just stating the obvious. I rarely agree with the majority on films, in this instance I do.

I may concede that is movie is not *quite* as bad as some of the other crapfests that Dolph has done but...at least gina bellman was nice to look at
I do like Dolph. I know a guys gotta make a living but he has done mostly bad films that don't do a good job of showcasing what he has to offer imo. "universal soldier" is still his best. "showdown in little tokyo" is a close second for me and thought not a great movie, I loved dolphs fun over-the-top performance in "johnny Mnemonic".
As far as Russell Mulchahy goes, well he has certainly done his share of crap. lots of bad tv and awful sequels. very hit or miss and more misses than hits. "highlander" was good and I very much liked "the shadow"(I think I may be the only one). I didn't see "razorback" but maybe I should because I like cheesy b-grade horror/creature features. I also didn't see "RE:extinction" because I loved the first one, loved it and the second was total garbage and the third turns her into a superhero(this is what happens when an actress marries a director/writer/producer, great for her career, not so kuch for fans) so I stopped watching them and will wait for the "reboot" which will come eventually as it seems to be with everything.
As for Dolph's future, well he won't win any points for me working for Uwe Boll, a true stain on the fimmaking industry as a whole. his part was a throwaway in "the expendables" so I hope he fares better in the second installment. I will keep watching him as a fan and rooting for him to make good movies, lol...after all I am part swedish myself.

I wouldn't know as I haven't seen his whole body of work. THE SHADOW, RAZORBACK, SILENT TRIGGER and RE3 are all I've seen and with the exception of RE3 I like them all.
I was actually going to cite him as a "visionary" instead of a "stylist" but retracted my comments as the word "visionary" means nothing anymore (Jack Snyder was touted as one in the WATCHMEN trailers) and also it might have been over praising Mulchahy.
I liked Dolph in EXPENDABLES. In fact he was one of the saving graces of that otherwise run of the mill actioner.
Too much shaky cam for me.
I don't know how I've managed but I've seen 1,3 and 4 of the Resident Evil franchise. The fourth I actually have an excuse for. I went to see it for the 3-D as it was advertised as a very gimmicky affair (something that is sneered at when using the format today). In truth, all the pointy pointy/fourth wall breaking was very limited and happened about as much as it did in the trailer. Very disappointing.
It surprises me greatly that they haven't rebooted it yet. The Mila J. vehicles must still be packing in the crowds which is baffling to me, considering it's been over a decade since the first was released. I didn't think the product was much good to warrant that kind of longevity and today's audiences don't have the patience to sit around for that long and still be watching the same old pap with the same names attached to it year in and year out.
Silent Trigger may be boring, but it is nowhere near his worst.

There was not enough action,The first few mins were good,but you have wait a long time before there is any more but it is not really that good,the girl in the movie was hot

I love Dolph as well but he and I know that he has made some *beep* movies and this one is far from the worst. As usual with 80's action stars his best films are the oldest and Men of War is a solid one as well
