Just a funny movie ...

Yes SGT BILKO has no redeeming quality except that it's a funny movie. BILKO pokes fun at the Army and the shennanigans of a career sergeant who bends every rule and stays one step ahead of the base commander (Akroyd). Bilko (Steve Martin) runs the Army Post's Motor Pool with a group of soldiers who have found a home in the care free lifstyle Bilko has created for them. Steve Martin (Bilko), Dan Akroyd, Phil Hartman, and Glenne Headly are in rare form as they take this 50s TV comedy classic to the silver screen. The movie isn't without it's flaws especially in calling Bilko a Sergeant where in fact he is a Master Sergeant. But that error may have been done on purpose. What I found interesting is Bilko does a clever job of skirting rules and creating his own world for the good of the base troops, HOWEVER, he always looks good in his uniform and his demeanor is just two steps ahead of professional.
Sgt Bilko is a funny movie that may make you wonder "what if?".

it seems like critics always has dissed this as long as i can remember, i think i've had it on tape since it was new, on second thought, maybe not, thought the movie was newer, anyway, and if i recall it right, i never liked it at first either. atleast i don't think i could get hooked on it, but as i've seen in later times when it's aired, i've found it downright hilarious, and there also seem to be great music too rolling now and then throughout the movie.

another day at the crossroad,
and i'm just trying find my way back home,
though nothing may be the same no more,
and maybe that counts for me also,
how could they do this,
how could i do this,
this is no place to be,
another day at the crossroad,
and all i wanna do is go home,
someone to talk to, but either way i turn,
no right way i can take, i'm stuck out in the big world,
i feel so bad, drifting out in nowhere,
no place to feel home and near,
be part of things again,
how could i be pushed out this way,
i wanna go home,
and not stay on my own,
no right way i can find to go,
and all i wanna do is go home.
