Leave the classics alone will ya? those guys own those roles man Bilko = Silvers Pink Panther = Sellers! get over yourself.Just be happy with the Frestrunk thing and all that great SNL stuff man

There was a fair gap in time between those two roles...I dont think it's a case of Steve Martin going "Right, who can i redo this time?"
shareIn the case of Silvers and Sellers there are obviously some pretty big shoes to fill. But the ideas behind Bilko and the Pink Panther are good ones. So I think when someone decided to remake these into movies they thought: "Who can we get who can pull this off?". And Steve Martin is one of the few guys maybe good enough to do it, he's funny, a good actor, and a big enough name to draw.
In Steve's mind, he probably saw it as a challenge and a chance to pay tribute to some classic comics.

Could it be the Directors and the producers and back in 1996 they believed movies had to be around 90 mins when films are cut for time the story and the action suffer then came Lord of the Rings and things Changed
