Scream Vs A nightmare on elm street

Are talking move? or franchise?

I prefer ANOES but can't deny Scream was probably more culturally relevant in how it reignited the flailing horror genre in the 90s.

Scream, by miles. FAR superior than NOES, which only has a interesting idea and villain.

Conceptually ANOES. Great idea, great villain. Freddy Krueger > Ghostface by miles.

Execution? Scream. A slicker, fancier, more balanced effort. Well acted, well written and nicely shot. A fantastic blend of horror and comedy. The cast has so much personality and are very memorable.

ANOES has a little bit of a cheese factor about it along with a few iffy moments of special effects, coupled with lesser acting/characterizations vs Scream.

I like how Scream starts off bashing the far superior Elm Street Sequels saying "only the original was good the sequels suck " as if we are more modernized and enlightened now and now we are talking about a 5th sequel to a movie that was only worth watching once in 1996.

Oh gosh. This is a really tough one for me. I think I might like the original Scream more. It's arguably the more satisfying film. I also appreciate the closure at the ending, as opposed to Elm Street's vague ending. As we know now, that was a studio decision that Wes Craven was against, so who knows. My opinion might have been reversed had Craven had it his way in '84.

Scream. It's based in reality (so far anyway and I hope it remains as such which is why I'm against Stu being resurrected but I digress). By virtue of being newer, the technology is better. It's more planned, more self-aware. I don't mean any of this to dis A Nightmare on Elm Street, which I also love
