The film isn't that great

The opening scene and eventual killing of Drew's character was without a doubt iconic and stunning even to this day. The final revelation was well-done but the middle sections of the movie was mundane and sometimes boring. It's not a great movie as a whole. I saw this in theaters and the audience went berserk after the first killing with Drew, thinking the movie was going to be dynamic throughout but it didn't hold up. It was about the opening suspense and how it caught us by surprise that really made Scream a hit.

Nonsense. The whole movie was exciting and entertaining. The audience I was with seemed to think the same thing. They were all buzzing during and after the surprising finale.

Definitely one of the best horror movies ever!

My favourite, in fact.

This is my favorite slasher film.

I can barely watch the original Halloween nowadays despite its status a classic. It's good that it did well and all but it's so dated and cheesy that if I had a choice between watching it or Scream, it wouldn't be a hard choice.

I love both still. It's isn't Halloween without Halloween for me. Scream I watch all year round.
