Sabrina is a "cute transfer student" right? She's now living with her aunts, and Harvey throws her the party to help her get to know people, then how come Marnie keeps saying how she's not a kid anymore? A teenage girl would say that to another unless they grew up together. Is this bad writing or am I missing something?

Bad writing. If you notice when this is said at the party, the aunt is right behind them. Who says that in front of parents/family?
