Why did Shaker show his budge before killing Clark and Miles?

Why did he show his budge first instead of just killing them?

reply

Presumably so that any witnesses/onlookers (like those in the laundrette) would see that Shaker was a cop and was trying to apprehend them, so when they drove towards him it looked like he was acting in self defense.

reply

It was also to provoke them so he could claim even more that he was in self defense.

reply

In case anyone was watching.

reply

Hahaha cos hes a cop & there were witnesses on the street.
A cop is meant to identify themselves before opening fire - if the witnesses said 'No he just shot them' when questioned it would look really odd.

reply

I get that part but then he shoots their gun against the wall. Any witnesses would have presumably seen him do that and it'd be a red flag if the FBI heard about it.

Yes but just before he shot their gun in the van, he checked there were no witnesses in the street.
So when the FBI checked, they would see gun shots in the van looking like they shot at him first :)
Smart guy shaker, i liked him except he shouldn't have gone to Toms house. He should have arranged to meet elsewhere - because being a cop he should have realized that the child may identify his voice (daft bugger)

reply

Exactly. He was operating under the pretense of being a police officer who was investigating suspicious behavior, and a possible kidnapping, in case there were any witnesses present, so if they saw him, they wouldn't think there was any association between him and those two in the van. They'd just think it was a cop stopping two criminals.
