Did they ever find Linda's body?

"While searching for Linda, Vail finds her dead body in a vacant lot, but there are no clues or evidence to link Aaron to her murder."

This is from Wikipedia's plot summary on the movie

)

Is there a scene in which this discovery is shown? I don't recall seeing it, but to be honest, I wasn't paying full attention when there weren't any intense dialogues on. I even tried looking through a script from script-o-rama but still couldn't even find any of the characters discussing it.

So it wasn't my attention span. Good to know.

I just wanted to make sure because I completely spaced out on the Shaunaghey(?) subplot (it was not that intriguing to me)

It just doesn't seem too plausible that they couldn't find her body til the end, seeing as Aaron was phenomenal at acting but not so great at plotting out his schemes. (Basically all he did was 'work his character from two angles' and eventually let slip that he didn't have MP. Maybe part of him wanted to gloat, but w/e. Also, I doubt that he planned to try and run away in broad daylight and get caught.)

Thanks for clarifying, though. :)

I don't recall that Linda is even reported missing in the movie. Aaron's friend Alex is asked about Linda. He says "she freaked out, she split".

It's only a confession at the end that adds a double whammy that its not just the Bishop is dead. But it's also Linda too and I get the sense that the police had not confirmed Linda is dead. But would be wondering about her whereabouts- because she is on the tape. And they would of probably liked to speak to her.

What is the motive for killing Linda is hard to know. Except the only thing Aaron says about it is "that she got what she deserved".

Arron refers to Linda as his girlfriend early in the movie. Probably killed Linda because she didn't return those feelings Aaron had for her, so he did it out of bitterness.

This.

Someone mentioned in the film that Linda was being passed around by everybody.

Aaron was only charged with murdering the Archbishop. Why not try him for the capital murder of Linda? He confessed to Vail at the end. He may not get double jeopardy for the Archbishop, but he could still be put away for Linda. Plus, since the case was just dismissed, maybe there could be a way around DJ...... Either way, he CAN go back to prison. Wish we'd seen that as part of the ending.

I don't think vail would ever tell. Cause that means he DID lose. And I think his ego is too big.

I don't think vail would ever tell.

you all miss the legal point [that Roy KNEW] that Vail is not ALLOWED to repeat any such statements made by his client.

otherwise Roy would never have told him - huh?

Because now he got off on insanity and that judgement would be called in on him getting off for Linda's murder as well and the courts would never outright admit that they were fooled, so him confessing means nothing.

Attorney client privilege prevents Vail from saying anything about any crimes Aaron has admitted to him.

I came on this board to ask this exact question and topic. Thanks for being way ahead of me dude.

LOL! :D

I was just about to start this very post, when I read yours.
It's true. On screen you never see Linda. All we see is a polaroid shot and the porn video.
I wondered whether there was a deleted scene I didn't know about.
I'll read the rest of the answers.

No one spoke about the whereabouts of Linda until Aaron/Roy mentions it to Marty Vail at the end that he killed her! So that was part of the surprise package for us! Even Vail didn't wonder where Linda was the whole time, i guess!

What if our whole life is a dream and when we die, we actually wake up!

I totally forgot about the minor details in the movie but I think he does confess in the end.

What else would that mean in a suspense thriller like this one?

Actually debaraw he did say he killed her. I think his exact words were, "I just had to kill Linda Mr. Vail" I dont think he hired anybody to kill her because he didnt have any money. Most likely what happened was that he was able to kill linda more quietly than he did the Archbiship. He probably got her in a secluded place where he could bury the body or get rid of it. The Archibishop was killed in the church and his screams and glass shattering alerted the mailman.

Yes he did say he killed her, I've seen the film about 50 times over the years that i pretty much know it by heart. In fact it was on a few days ago. His exact words were, "I just had to kill Linda Mr.Vail that *beep* just got what she deserved". I also recommend listening to the directors commentary on the blu ray where the director/producers also say Aaron killed Linda. Im not trying to be a smartass BUT im just stating what i heard in the movie and from the director/producers

No problem you don't have to apologize. In fact I had to see it one more time just to be sure. You're right its kind of subtle. Aaron kind of throws it in very quickly which is what makes it a better ending. On one hand you sympathize with Aaron because the Archbishop obviously was a disgusting guy, but when you learn about him killing a innocent girl as well it shows how evil he is
