Why did that vendor suddenly, coldly order Dudley to leave his stand?

Because he thought Dudley was trying to insult Reverend Biggs, whom he thought highly of after all the things Biggs had done for him and his family.

This time, Effie White's gonna win.

Whitney was wrong. Children are no longer the future.

He thought Dudley intended to slam the Reverend, with the things he was saying, whom the vendor happened to think the world of.
