Why is it rated so low??

I'll go right out on that limb with you. "The Preacher's Wife" is also a perfect time-capsule of that era in which it was filmed. Thinking back on 1996; things seemed much brighter then.

I thinks it's because it's a remake and people are comparing it to the original. While it's not as good as the original, I think it's an excellent movie.

sorry, but I thought it was boooooring; love all the other Penny Marshall movies but this one stinks IMO

This movie is very old-fashioned and is not really edgy or anything. I must admit, I didn't really give it a chance when it first came out, and I'm a Whitney fan. This is not her most exciting movie role, but the music is nice. The whole thing is "nice", so you have to be in the mood for it. I guess it's good for Christmas because of the music and spirit. It's wholesome and inoffensive and the plot is familiar.

Because its awful. It's a lame Christian movie. Great movie for old people or extremely religious Christians. Otherwise, its going to be a pass.
