In the movie the professor puts on music in his apartment after he gets a date with miss Perty. He says Teddy Prendergrast. Is this a real artist? I want to get this song?

Yeah, Teddy P is real. I think his last name is spelled "Pendergrass" though. That may be impeding your search. Nutty Professor is some funny *beep*

Teddy Pendergrass was/is one of the most popular R&B singers of the 70's... The song in the movie is "Close the door".

Teddy Pendergrass had a really great song dueting with Whitney Houston in 1984 called "Hold Me", that was one of the most beautiful love songs I've ever heard.
