Why make Nutty Professor 3 when the story is done?

The Nutty Professor -
Sherman is lonely and can't find a woman but transforms into Buddy Love to woo his new co-worker, Carla (Jada Pinkett). He and Carla become good friends but she starts to love Buddy.

Nutty Professor II: The Klumps -
Sherman finally finds true love in his friend and colleague Denise (Janet Jackson) but his alter ego Buddy Love is ruining his life. Even worse, when Buddy is totally removed from Sherman and becomes his own person, Sherman loses his memory in the process. In the end, Buddy dies and his DNA remains go back inside Sherman (thus not causing Sherman to lose his memory) and he Sherman and Denise marry.
