Terrible remake!

This movie was offensive and just plain awful.

See the original with Jerry Lewis. Its hilarious!! The one and only Nutty Professor was and still is Jerry Lewis.

i much rather prefer the remake.

Dear "rushngal",

Quite agree that the remake is a bit too harsh sometimes: the jokes tend to get too far and too embarrassing in their crazy vocabulary and puns ("politically incorrect"?), which must keep it in “MPAA: Rated R” category for good. But the movie itself is not awful.

"The Nutty Professor" of 1996 and "The Nutty Professor" of 1963 are very different, which makes them both enjoyable. The styles, the performances, the sets, the "crudeness" factor are various. I've got both movies on DVD - the only example in my collection when I have the original and a remake. Generally speaking, remakes suck, not in this case though.

This comedy shows greatly how the society changed (degraded?) from the 1960s to the 1990s.

As to "The Nutty Professor 2" - it is rotten indeed. Not funny, just plain awful and offensive - like you say. I could not make myself watch it - 1 out of 10 easily.

In my humble opinion.

Regards,
Andrei

PS By the way, I think that 99% of girls do not like this movie for its "out-of-control" male humour. Right?

i like offensive things and this movie i have to argue, wasn't really offensive aside from it's incredibly crappy final product.

i say that because offensive is something you can relate to. this had like, nothing except some lab mice that i could relate to, or anyone else i know could relate to.

offensive is that movie tales from the hood---very creepy and it's a sad tale but a could be true tale. seeing the little girl who was shot was offensive.

i kind of like that because atleast i had some kind of emotional reaction.

this just made me feel like i was listening to a biology lecture in school.

i mean, if you mean offensive as in so boring your offended you saw it i can understand. but the jokes were so horible and low quality they weren't even funny let alone offensive. heck i don't even think anyone got insulted from this stuff because in the end of every joke you have to ask your self ''wait wait, ok so you have this first part and then.... what the fk...that makes no sense, ok maybe if i think about it for another ten minutes...'' 10 minutes go's bye.. ''wtf was he even talking about, why would they use the jaws of life outside of an accident when they easily could have pulled him out''.

it's more distracting then anything else.

but your definitely right, this movie sucks oh-so hard.

if you like this movie, check out the original hitch hikers guide to the galaxy and the good shepard. they are the other 2 of the top three most boring films ever made and you might like them.

This film just pales in comparison to the original, there really was no need for it

This was one of the best remakes of all time, I really don't understand how a movie could offend anybody. The people who make movies are not trying to offend to the viewers other wise they would not make them! Some people get to emotional over nothing at all. It's a comedy that people went out to see on a Friday night for a good laugh. Thats it. Some people take movies to serious.

Oh i know this version sucked compared to jerry lewis's. The part i laughed at the most was when he was buddy and he was in the club and he got the waiter to make him that drink and then he drank it and then he froze and then fell back that was pretty funny. The remake was just stupid and obnoxious.

I thought it was way better than the original, one of the few remakes that not only manages to be good in its own right, but better than the original in every way.

jerry lewis version is wayyy over rated, murphys buddy love is far more convincing than lewis' "pretend" version.
