The first scene with Reggie

When he was humiliating Sherman and not letting up, everyone in the room was roaring with laughter and cheering. Not one person even felt bad for Sherman. It got to the point where it went from a comedy act to public humiliation that was extremely mean spirited.

i think that was the point. to show how the masses can turn against an individual for something different, extreme or odd about them. for me it has echoes of quasimodo venturing into the feast of fools

Those same people also roared with laughter at the white guy, and the two women with the unique hairstyles, who were all also humiliated by Reggie. What makes Sherman so special? Maybe if Sherman had just waited his turn and allowed himself to be made the butt of one or two jokes Reggie would have just moved on to someone else, but Sherman landed himself in it. He was quite happy to laugh at the other victims of Reggie's jokes but feared Reggie turning to him so he made a scene of himself and turned himself into a particular target.

What do you mean? Because he said something like "Alright, that's enough"? He said that after REGGIE had told the 2nd or 3rd joke. SHERMAN was bothered because it seemed like REGGIE, who had told just 1 joke for each person, was to fixated on mocking him.
