sharePeople get snubbed all the time. I don't think it was race related. You're forgetting Cuba Gooding Jr. won that year at the Oscars. He's black. But I'm with you that Eddie should've won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Comedy/Musical. Tom Cruise won instead for Jerry Maguire. Number one, I didn't really see Jerry Maguire as a comedy. Secondly, I liked Tom Cruise in it, but better than Eddie Murphy? No way. And I also believe that Eddie should've at least been nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor. I don't think anyone but Eddie Murphy could've really pulled you in and make you believe those were all different people. An amazing and I must say, masterful performance. He was even great in the sad parts like the first scene at the club when he is humiliated and the final speech was great too. I always found it funny how the late Mr. Ledger was acknowledged for playing The Joker in a Batman movie, but someone like Eddie Murphy was never recognized by the Oscars. It took until 2007 for Eddie to even win a Golden Globe and he has never won an Oscar and was only nominated once by the Academy.
Maybe one day, they will give Eddie the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Globes. They should. I think they will one day. If they don't, I will be shocked.
BS! Whoopi Goldberg won an award for her role in Ghost, not necessarily a Comedy more of a Drama..but her role was comedic..I guess they like her more than Eddie.
