It's no comaprison, Eddie Murphy was WAY better than Jerry Lewis. I saw the original verison and it sucked. The current verison has a lot of things to like and laugh about. Plus, it was Eddie's first comeback movie after many films flopped at the box office.

EDDIE MURPHY: You....are my #1...and I.....

I agree, Eddie Murphy was way better as the Nutty Professor. Even though I've never seen the original, it just seems better when a fat guy can drink a potion and become thin instantly.

The newer version had a better comedic effect and definitely had its moments.

The original is FAR better. Jerry Lewis can't be topped! Do yourself a favor and check it out.
