I don't think Jerry Lewis ever liked it. The trivia said he was going to do a cameo but turned it down due to all the fart jokes. Eddies version is good have not seen Jerrys yet

Well I like both versions I have to admit the Eddie Murphy version is funnier to me, but in a totally different way than the original was yes it's got the fart jokes and the fat jokes and is a little more crude, but that's actually what makes it funny and shows why Eddie Murphy is brilliant!
