Same movie would probably be rated R today?
I don't know... kinda felt like a mild R to me, mostly because of language.

shareI also think it would be rated R for the language and some sexually suggestive scenes.
Though really I think it would just be too controversial to release today, given how sensitive/easily offended people have become about body image/weight in the last 20 years. Social media would encourage people to boycott it and discuss body shaming and body acceptance and argue that this movie undermines that movement. Also there might be controversy over the portrayal of racial and other stereotypes
I agree 1000%... Today everything is so PC, safe, boring, lifeless... It's only a movie!!
shareI think the second one would actually be considered for an R though it got away with a PG-13. I doubt this one wouldn't be PG-13 today though. It doesn't violate the MPAA's standards because it's usually more than one F-bomb that gets an R. XD
shareIt did have racy material for the 90s like were grandma shares the fantasies, the gozilla paraody and jokes at his appearance at the night club.
shareMaybe but only because comedy hardly exists now because people are too worried about who might be offended by the jokes.
shareThere was some backlash against this when it came out because parents were surprised by how raunchy it was when the TV spots made it look like a family film skewering towards kids.
