Why would anyone, female or male, put up with constant abuse?? Don't they know that if one person liked them, others will too?
And how does one ever learn to equate pain with love anyway? If someone loves you, they don't deliberately hurt you, for God's sake!

Because the victim is in love and in denial and blames themselves for the abuse. The victim also believes the abuser will change. This is what my mom told me when she was in abusive relationship with my dad and how she felt.

It happens all the time . He will change. It is my fault. It sounds horrible but it is kind of sexy. He or she gives you presents and tells you are the greatest. Sounds gross but make up sex is great.
