Mr. Bimbo

I am a Muppet fan and own this Dvd, but I have a question about Mr. Bimbo. Does he have some signifigance or is this just a Muppet thing? I never really understood it and wondered if anyone else got it.

I think it's just because Squire Trelawney is such a dim-wit that he actually believes that a man lives in finger. I don't know what the point is though. I guess it's just for little kids!!!

The point is you hear the character mentioned so many times you start to think it's true! There IS a man inside a bear's finger!
lol.

You own the DVD, you said? Try watching Brian Henson's commentary. He tells of how Frank Oz was not too keen on doing such a dumb joke; a joke which made no sense to him. By the end of filming, Mr. Bimbo was Frank Oz' favorite gag. It's just meant to be a joke at how dimwitted Fozzie's character was.

I always loved Mr. Bimbo. One of the funniest parts of the movie is where Kermit yells, "Who hired this crew?!" Every one points to Fozzie, who then points to his finger. Cracks me up!

I'm too indecisive to decide on a signature.

Watch the movie again. Towards the end when they are fighting the pirates. When one of the pirates comes after Trelawny, he closes his eyes and wins the fightr by just swinging the sword around. The he congratulates Mr Bimbo. My point is, when he's fighting, turn up the volume, you can hear a little voice making grunts when the sword is swung. Mr. Bimbo exists!!!!!

Really!?! That's interesting...

Then again, it could be the background noise of the others fighting. And he didn't really "win". It was a technicality because Bunsen and Beaker shot a cannonball into a tree that fell onto the pirate, knocking him out.

Yeah, that was funny. I always thought Trelawny was just insane, and Mr. Bimbo didn't really exist, but that's just my interpretation.
