Different Kermit

I saw The Muppet Movie before I saw this and in TMM Kermit seemed like a happy little frog, so it felt a bit strange in this when he came onboard etc. and started acting, i don't know different. But he was still the gentleman (or gentlfrog) we know and love, and the thing that proved that for me is when hawkins let's long john get away and Kermit says 'well done. your father would have been proud' any thoughts anyone?

Honey Nut Cheerios are not a cereal-THEY ARE AN ADDICTION! A WAY OF LIFE!!!

reply

Whats the diffrence? Its still in Kermit's charecter it's just his serious side.

reply

i lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeee long john
hes great, kermit was good too, but long john rocks...

"we see you have boom boom sticks....bye bye"

reply

hmmmm, why do you think he's called 'long' john?
i'm not the only one being perverted here, all the people i have watched this film with (except when i saw it for the first time at a friends birthday party when i was 9) have laughed at his name. and when all the pirates meet up with kermit and miss piggy she sez: 'hello looooooong john'!!! ha! I don't blame her by the way, he is hot

Perhaps you are not familiar with the concept of acting. Actors try to play their roles as the character would. In the movie Muppet Treasure Island, Kermit is acting in the role of Captain Smollet, therefore Kermit has to do and say things that Captain Smollet would do and say.

Muppet Treasure Island is based on the classic book Treasure Island, written by Robert Louis Stevenson. Although obviously many jokes haves been thrown in, and Ben Gunn changed to Benjamina to allow a role for Miss Piggy, most of the main characters still behave in a way which is true to the way they were written in the original book. It is a great book -- you really should read it sometime!

reply

Which is why Long John has that particular moniker. It's in the original book. Unfortunately, you'd have to ask Robert Louis Stevenson why he gave him that name, and the opportunity to do so has long since expired.

I'm too indecisive to decide on a signature.

reply

Long John is based largely off of Henry Every, whose nickname was "Long Ben."

So now we need to ask Henry Every where he got that name. Both halves of it, as last time I checked "Ben" was short for "Benjamin" rather than "Henry".

My muse wears lots of eyeliner. Lots and lots of eyeliner.

This was the first movie where Brian Henson was doing Kermit, not his late father Jim.

There's a new world order coming, Shadow, and I'm going to be a king! A KING!

reply

No, actually Kermit was, and still is, played by Steve Whitmire. Brian Henson is just an incidental player in this movie.

We can't stop here! This is Bat-country!

reply

OOPS! You caught me...
CORRECTION.... MTI was the first time STEVE WHITMIRE did the role of Kermit, and not the late Jim Henson.

reply

No, actually Muppets Christmas Carrol was the first movie where Steve Whitmire played Kermit.

I think I'm dumb--er, done here. At least we're all in agreement that it's NOT Jim Henson playing Kermit!
