Interesting, although I think I like the old art better. Looked more like a pirate movie, and this new one looks more like a kids movie (which it is, but still).

I'm too indecisive to decide on a signature.

reply

Yeah, that's kind of what I thought too. :)

Does this actually have any NEW extras? I was wondering because with the influx of "50th Anniversary" titles I wondered if there was any real point to "upgrading" if I already owned the original DVD's.

Rumor has it that they are resurrecting an old commentary with Rizzo and Gonzo where they discuss Tim Curry--"isn't that a chicken dish?" I will assume that issuing a 50th anniversary DVD includes more new stuff than new cover art.

There's a new world order coming, Shadow, and I'm going to be a king! A KING!

Tim Curry--"isn't that a chicken dish?"

I don't regret this, but I both rue and lament it.

The old cover looks too odd. Change it to the 50th Anniversary Edition cover, just like the other movies.

...not to mention that Muppet Treasure Island is rated "G". I am going to update it.

reply

Nope. Nothing too interesting. Just something with Pepe the Prawn and Fozzie. They actually removed the commentaries from the original DVD, too. It's only worth getting the newer version if you're really pining for the widescreen version, which wasn't available with the original DVD release.

Can you change the cover? I like the newer cover alot better. The new cover makes it more like a fantastic movie, the old cover makes it more like a ridiculous movie.

reply

Tim Curry--"isn't that a chicken dish?"

LOL. But I must say I would be laughing harder if everyone in the house didn't make that joke every single day! GRR!

But I have even changed my signature for the occasion-

My life depends on Lay's Sour Cream and Onion Chips, Dr. Pepper, and Tim Curry, the chicken dish.

It's my personal opinion of course, but I didn't find the bonus features on the original DVD particularly memorable except for a few of those biting remarks from Gonzo and Rizzo. I'd just as soon get the Special Edition. And I agree, the new cover art is definately better.
