Special Edition DVD on the way

Taken from Ultimate Disney (http://www.ultimatedisney.com/):

A sneak peek on the new catalogue discs reveals some other quite exciting news. Believe it or not, Kermit the Frog is turning 50 this year; his debut television appearance was on Jim Henson's black-and-white program "Sam and Friends" in 1955. In celebration of this golden anniversary, Disney will be rereleasing four of the Muppets' most popular films to Special Edition DVD: The Muppet Movie (1979), The Great Muppet Caper (1981), The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) and Muppet Treasure Island. The promo provides no new release date nor information on bonus features, but ensures the films are "completely restored and remastered." One assumes from the widescreen clips previewed that each will be presented in their original 1.85:1 theatrical aspect ratios, which was not the case when Disney first released Carol and Island to DVD in 2002. We'll have more details for you as soon as they come in!

I hope to God that they're in Widescreen.

Hopelessly in love with Uma Thurman and Emmy Rossum

I hope that the special edition will include a different 'making of' than what was included on the current dvd release version. When it first came out in cinemas, I saw a half-hour special on The Disney Channel in Australia which had an interview with Gonzo and Rizzo in which they were asked about their fellow cast/crew. It contained their hilarious 'ignorance' of Tim Curry - ''Tim Curry' - Isn't that a chicken dish?' and director Brian Henson - 'I think he's a lighting guy...'. This is different from the 'making of' included now, which also has a conversation with Gonzo and Rizzo.

Lovely to see Disney finally treating the Muppets with the DVD releases and respect they're deserved though.

Street date 11-29-05, according to Suncoast Pictures. I just reserved my copy yesterday. $14.99 retail. Woohoo!

There's a new world order coming, Shadow, and I'm going to be a king! A KING!

I love the new cover. (Update it to the new cover.) The new cover looks more like an excellent movie. The old cover looks more like a ridiculous movie.

Not much in the way of bonus features, but the picture and sound quality are great.
