kevin bishop's singing voice

Did he do his own singing? His voice sounded really hi-pitched.

Yeah, he sounds like a girl, but it was good, because we could believe that Blind Pew thought he was a girl. I always suspected that was partly why they cast him.

I'm too indecisive to decide on a signature.

First off, yes, he sang the songs. But, he did it before his voice broke. But, when it came time to film, his voice was breaking so he lip-synched the songs.
Second, Blind Pew thought he was a girl, not because of his voice, but because of his long hair. Another visually-challenged joke that was put in for a laugh.

I think it was both because of his voice and because of his hair (actually, more the voice, honestly). I mean, if you felt Hulk Hogan's long hair but heard his voice, you wouldn't think it was a girl, and many boys had long hair in this point in history. You wouldn't assume that, because a person has long hair, it is a girl. It is still a blind joke, but I think it's funnier because he sounds like a girl, rather than because his hair is long. I mean, even Kermit has long hair in this movie.

Kermit was wearing a wig. Most captains wear wigs. It was "in" at that era. But, I'm not making it a dispute about hair, I'm just making sure the facts are known. Kermit wears a wig.

Yeah, it's a wig. It always bothered me, actually, because it just seems weird to see Kermit with hair. But, yeah, wig.

Blind Pew hadn't heard Jim speak. He was just feeling his head. It must've been the hair and feminine facial features that tipped him off.

reply

Yes he had. Jim said something along the lines of, "I'm sorry but the bar is closed" when Pew came in. (Paraphrased.) Also, Jim was grunting and stuff while Pew was holding him.

I don't regret this, but I both rue and lament it.

Someone said something about his feminine facial features. How would he have known if he was "visually challenged"? Just wondering, this had perplexed me for a long time as well. :)

I have an issue with Kermit singing It's Not Easy Being Green because, of course not all frogs are green...in fact some of them are red and blue and yellow.

OMFG scariest boy-soprano EVER. Scared the crap out of me. o.O

You do know it was a pre-recording of his voice, don't you?

Yes, but it's still really scary.

Kevin Bishop's voice is NOTHING compared to Tim Curry's. I realize the age difference, but I still wanted to point it out.

Oh, well, duh. Tim Curry's awesome. Kevin Bishop is a chorus girl... hehe. Okay, that was harsh. I do like Kevin.

Kevin Bishops voice is really nice for before hitting puberty. It's definatley high, but some boys are just like that. And who knows? the score could have been written for his higher voice and he aslo has a lower voice to. If you notice, his range in the movie isn't that big. And i doubt the score would be written around his voice.

reply

I dunno. They tweak the songs to suit the actors singing them so it would be good for their range of voice.

If they didn't, they would have to fire the actor...which is unlikely.

Depends upon the composer of the music. He or she or they may have created the music before the hiring of the actors or afterwards.

I liked it. It probably lacks substance, because he was 15 or 16, and there was evidence that his voice was breaking. Again, it could be to do with the song and the range in which he has to sing in.
