Nick Nolte at his best!!!

Nick Nolte was born to play roles like this. The hot headed cops who like to kick butt.

The movie itself was a mixed batch. Why was Melanie Griffith in this movie? That role could have been played by anyone. The scene at the end with her walking around the graves was so fake. Jennifer Connelly was beautiful in this film. The story itself was half baked and i love this film noir movies set in those times.

Still Nick Nolte saved the movie.

Nick Nolte was channeling Charles McGraw. Ever seen The Narrow Margin? McGraw plays a tough cop with the same gravelly voice and granite face as Nolte does here.

I can see what you mean by Nick Nolte channeling Charles McGraw. I own The Narrow Margin. A difference is that Nick brought more character and depth to his character probably because the film centered on him. Charles was more part of the plot and pacing of The Narrow Margin.

I just rented this movie through Netflix. The reviews on this board have me very confused if I'm going to like it or not. I LOVE period films from the 1920s - 1970s, especially noir films.

Honestly, I rented this because I saw Treat Williams starred in it but it looks like his part is small. Oh well. I'm a fan of Nick Nolte also so that's good news his performance was killer in this flick!
