Jeniffer Connely's character (questions)

Saw the movie (again, havent seen it for at least 10 yrs) yesterday, and I will try to piece it together to match your questions.
This are all just my own speculations/thoughts.

Ok, what is she we know - she's an elite prostitue of some kind.

Her sexual history is lively and she's been doing it from a young age.

In one of the flashbacks Hoover goes searching for some scumbag named Kenny Kamins, after bursting through a joint punching the *beep* out of anyone in the way he finds Allison in a room with Kamins and an underage girl (aprox 12-14).

Kamins is about to inject the girl with some form of drug, most likely heroin and then take advantage of her. Most likely Kamins runs some sort of prostitution ring or call girls firm, this is never disclosed, but I believe this is the case.

Allison protests and says something that "she's to young" where Kamins replies "so where you". Implying that he had A gotten her introduced to drugs, and B raped and used here and C started her in the sex business. Most likely he had some sort of pull on here, or just henchmen that would ruff her up if she tried to leave etc.

Anyway, Hoover comes in, says something, sees that Kamins has a .32 pistol laying on a tabl as kamins tries to take it Hoover breaks his hand and ultimately kills Kamins by injecting him with a lethal dose of heroin(?) into the neck. (right before Kamins has screamed I don't do that *beep* so an OD is not at all out of the question).

She and her gay friend make videos of their every VIP client including our detective.

In interrogation Jimmy Fields (the 'fruit') says that she was not in on the movies. This may or may not be true.

The one way mirror through which all the filming takes place would have required access to both apartments to create. Fields could have made the alterations before Allison moved in, thus she would not have known about it.

Though, it's more likely that she did know about it. But, the reason for doing so is obfuscated. Fields never talks about any extortion towards anyone, and since Allison is rather broken mentally in a way, it could be that her and Fields have a non-sexual thing going.

Remember; this is the 50s and being gay was not accepted leading to Fields most likely being lonely, as is Allison due to the fact that she has been having sex since young years without any loving emotions connected to the sex.

So they may have some sort of strange relationship where they love each other and where the person having sex with Allison is in Fields head a replacement for himself. He says something along the lines of that in the interrogation.

What are they making them for?

Good question. There are a couple of alternatives;
A. Blackmail, but there never seem to be any blackmail. Even when Hooever asks Fields if he has any more movies and then walks away, Fields does not try to blackmail Hoover.
Had he been a blackmailer, he would not have dropped to his knees in desperation; he whould have tried to blackmail Hoover in to helping him.

B. Film is for Fields.
As I mentioned in the answer to the previous statement.

C. Protection.
Films are made in order to protect Allison from the clients. But in what way?

D. For Allison.
Seems far fetched though.

And: if she's a prostitute for the VIPs, what is she doing and how did she get in that military base with those sick soldiers?

Good question. My guess is this,
General Timms being infatuated by her, told her stuff and showed her stuff; the ward, the big hole out in the desert where she got radioactive glass in her heel, most likely because she where using sandals.

Timelinewise my guess is this:
* Timms meets Allison.
* Movie is made by Fields.
* Timms invites Allison to see a nuclear blast. A hint to this is the film sequence where she is laughing into the camera and puts on glasses with black lenses. Total black. Indicating that they will either be used to see an eclipse or a nuclear blast.
* On route to the military area Allison films the ward, but is hindered by the MP.
* She films the sequence with the explosion and the soldiers in front.
* Most likely something has gone wrong and they go to the soldiers to help them. This is where she gets glass in her foot.
* Going to the ward to fix her foot, she she's other soldiers with long developed cancer. She films this hastily.
* She gets on a plane to L.A. and is thrown to her death.

Those are my thoughts on the subject. But I don't now how the military got knowledge of the movies.

I saw this on television last night, via cable. The brief description of the film said she was "a debutante." I kept waiting for a reference to wealthy Southern society, but I never saw any. Someone must think "debutante" is a euphemism for "prostitute".
