It is essentially a direct competitor to the James Bond series.

For the most part l, I've noticed they alternate years.

But far more consistent that James Bond ever was (the Daniel Craig era came closest, but I still favour the, so far, six M:I films, on balance, over the five Daniel Craig Bond films, although I'd still say that 2006's Casino Royale is probably the best standalone film out of all of them).

Had to look up if they went heads up in the same year.

M.I. and Bond went heads up at the box office in 2006 and 2015.

Bond won the $$ battle both times.

Except, on both occasions, M:I was released in the summer, and Bond was released in the Fall/pre-Christmas.
