Hi Thought since this message board is so bare, I would start a topic. I am not a fan of Barbara Streisand, however first time I saw this film I thought it was great, hilariously funny and I think there is something in there that everyone can identify with. Anyone agree?

This work of art (by it's unique theme) does deserve a good audience and apreciation.

I agree!!!It is a work of art and some IMdb users slate it beacuse it was directed by Barbra Streisand and they are prejudice to actors who star and direct their own films.I agree that some actors can't do both but Ms.Streisand definetly can and shines throughout the whole film, a great movie!!!!
shareHi I've just returned to my post by chance to see if anyone commented since I wrote this. It is true to say that some directors/actors do find it difficult to do both well, but this one I think manages just fine. Just wanted to add that the casting was great as well, altogether a very enjoyable film. Glad to see that i'm not alone in my thinking.

Ahem, Mimi Roger's character is Rose's YOUNGER sister. Perhaps you had tuned out before Rose's heart-to-heart conversation with her mom that makes this clear.
Of course it's harder to pay attention to a movie you don't like, but that's more reason to be less presumptious in your denunciations.
I can not understand how you claim that Claire is Rose's older sister. There is nothing about this in the screenplay.
shareWake up, when Hannah gives rose the picture that she thinks is Claire, she says that she thought that Rose's father never HELD A BABY UNTIL SHE CAME ALONG. Have you ever thought that maybe Streisand is just more talented that you give her credit for, as many people out there do? Why would she play the 'old Rose' is it was all based on ego? I think that your jealous of how strong an actress she is to be able to portray this complex caractor.
