Robbed of an Oscar

Am I the only one who felt Lauren Bacall was robbed of the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her stylish turn in this film as Barbra's mother...I believe that Lauren losing the Oscar was so much a dig at Ms. Bacall's performance as it was a big raspberry to Barbra Streisand just for being Barbra Streisand.

Well who was she up against?

Lorelai:The government will close that day.Barbra Streisand will give her final concert... again.

She lost the award to Juliette Binoche for THE ENGLISH PATIENT. I honestly can't remember who the other three nominees were.

Lauren's brilliant in the role and very deserving of her nomination. It would have been great if she had won!

I don't think Lauren was robbed. I've seen both performances, and while I wouldn't say Binoche was better than Bacall, the role itself showcased Binoche's talents more than the Bacall one did.
Lauren was fantastic, and worthy of her nomination, but her role was relatively easy to play compared to Juliette's.

The other nominees:
Joan Allen for "The Crucible"
Barbara Hershey for "The Portrait of a Lady"
Marianne Jean-Baptiste for "Secrets & Lies"
