Could be that he made her aware of her own two faces and told her that she didn't know what she was doing. She wouldn't have liked that and Spinotti may not have lit her, the way she wanted to look.
She could have had a John Barry score for THE PRINCE OF TIDES-91'; but he allegedly walked when she wouldn't leave him alone to do his own craft.
TRIVA:
Dudley Moore was originally cast in the role that went to George Segal. He was fired by Barbra Streisand for not remembering his lines. These were the first symptoms of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, a brain disorder that would later kill Moore.
During production, most of the crew was replaced. That's why the film has two credited directors of photography.

Ha Ha!
Hey, if she knows more than any of those techs let her do own photography and scoring. She can hire a student from a school and order them what to do. Much easier that way to avoid any conflict.
Yes, I knew about Moore. I don't know how blameworthy she is for that, though. It would depend on how severe his loss of memory was , and how much time was spent on his filming.(I assume she didn't know he was ill then)
Patty Duke was actually fired a few yrs ago for the same reason; I was surprised to hear that.

I understand the way it can sound and if time and millions are at stake, that is neither Streisand's or Moore's fault and sometimes, unpleasant decisions have to made. It just comes over as typical though, due to Streisand's controlling and narcissistic nature and the other trivia comments that have beleagured her productions.
Becky Johnston, the co-script writer of POT's, had apparently commented that working with Streisand, was like being on boot camp.
I know what you mean. In this case, it may be a gray area; either he could not remember one line to the next, or he could. Or maybe She was not patient enough to give him more takes, I don't know.
She's likely the type to call white, black /black,white regardless of what you say or do.
I like THE MIRROR HAS TWO FACES and in spite of my comments, I feel of the 3 films she has directed, I would rate this her best one. Just a bit unfortunate for the technicians who KNEW their job, had to put up with her tyranny.
sharesee my revised post, in case you haven't; that lawyer/schoolteacher thing where they need to correct and have the last say

Don't you mean white, black /black white? Streisand's ego would have gotten the better of her, being helms-woman, (thought it better to be PC here) 😉 and best to just go along with her, if you wanted to keep your job.
Her art director Paul Sylbert, on POT's had an issue with her, as she wanted part of an interior set built, that wouldn't even be seen on camera and he informed her of this. It got built anyway and apparently didn't end up on camera, like she was informed.
