Would Ms. Honey have kept Matilda during the adoption process? I know it was assumed that she did, but Matilda was too young to understand to put a stipulation in there about that. And Ms. Honey really had nothing for a child at the house. No bedroom/clothes/toys etc. Not immediately, anyway.

which house are you talking about? The cottage or Miss Honey's childhood home?

I know this film came out almost 20 years ago but wouldn't Miss Honey had needed to have a police check etc before she adopted?

No, as a qualified Teacher she would already be police checked.
