One of the best things I've seen in the theatre. If you get the chance - go and see it.

I have not seen it yet but I downloaded the recording from iTunes. I Love the score. Some really great songs!

I'm dying to see it. I live in Australia which has a pretty inferior theatre scene though so it'll probably have nothing but reality television 'stars' in it.

I'm hoping to get to London soon though so I hope I can see it on the West End!

reply

I live in Australia too but I made it out to London this September to see it. Absolutely amazing, the score, the actors, the story, the humour, everything. The girl who played Matilda at our show was perfect, and I'm sure the others would have been too! Only bad thing is that rewatching the film now, I feel like it missed the mark a bit, tone-wise.

reply

It might have missed the mark of the movie tone-wise because it's based on the book, not the movie, but yeah it is a bit darker than either.

I'm surprised they cast a male actor as Miss Trunchabull. Why'd they do that? Why not get a female?

No Day But Today. Today 4 U. One Song Glory.
How we gonna pay last year's RENT?!

I caught the Broadway cast performing on Good Morning America and they were fantastic! The kids are so awesome! I hope I get to see it some day. I think this movie was a great choice to bring to the stage.

2 cute 2 listen!

Firstly, I think it is to do with the way the part is scored. Secondly, have you seen what female hammer throwers tend to look like.

Let Zygons Be Zygons.

I loved the musical as a stand-alone piece, but it was (to me) completely different from the movie or the book.

It later opened on Broadway on 11 April 2013 at the Shubert Theatre. The stage version has become hugely popular with audiences and praised by critics, with one critic calling it "the best British musical since Billy Elliot".
