Independence Day UBER irony LOL!!

It's still so funny that Independence Day & Mars Attacks! were released so closely together. What makes the joke even funnier is how serious Independence Day takes itself. Best timing ever.

And then next year, 1997, Armageddon and Deep Impact, and also in 1997, Dante's Peek and Volcano.

All these films were made to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Roswell incident. "Mars Attacks" is actually more of a parody of the "War of the Worlds"-1950s version, than "Independence Day".

"The Arrival" was released in 1996 and then the following year we had "Contact". Both involved receiving radio signals from space. There are even the lines "Encyclopedia Galactica" shared in both films.

Kind of like Antz and A Bugs Life came out in the same year. But they're not space/alien related...
