sorry freq32 not trying to push your buttons but i have to agree with the OP. i am watchign this movie now nd IMHO i do think it is completely unfunny badly acted rubbish.
my idea of a good sci fi spoof um...... not an easy question actually you've got spaceballs but that got old VERY quickly (like instantly :S) um.... never saw galaxy quest.
i laughed my arse off during alien ressurection but lets all face facts that wasn't meant to be funny it was just a complete steaming pile of *ahem*
so IMHO mars attacks not good alien ressurection much worse and sci fi doesnt seem to spoof very well.
never mind we've always got naked gun.
I see that this just isn't you guys' genre. how many of the really bad 50's sci fi films have you seen? i've seen enough to 'get' this movie .. you have to know the 50's sci-fi genre's .. they are all atrocious. even the so called good ones like 'the day the earth stood still' or 'war of the worlds' even down to 'earth vs. the flying saucers'.
this is a great spoof of those starting with the theremin opening to when they start attacking each time as if they want to be our friends.. all the way till their heads start exploding..

thats a good argument as to why you think this is a great film whereas so many wisecrakcs on these boards would just come back with "you're an idiot" or some crap but no definitly good argument.
there are films i like that some people just don't get as well and when i tell people i don't like airplane they usually bounce of the handle.

I gotta go with the guy after the OP, my dad got me into all the old alien invasion movies and I just laugh at them, I saw this back when I was about 5 and use to watch it again and again it's just hilarious at the way they spoof things and you do cringe at the cheesyness sometimes...but you remind yourself that actors like these need to act their best to act bad...
