was the cowboy nicholson role supposed to go to michael keaton?

one thing i kind of noticed was, the cowboy jack nicholson role seems alot like the scene in beetlejuice when beetlejuice did a commercial dressed up like a cowboy...was the role supposed to go to keaton? it would explain why nicholson did 2 roles

just as the donut shop kid's role was obviously supposed to go to johnny depp

Actually, Johnny Depp was supposed to have Michael J. Fox's role.
