I'm so lost!

So, okay. It's painfully obvious that a majority of Hollywood from directors to screenwriters to actors/actresses are liberal-minded. However, Tim Burton made it extremely clear that Nicholson's president and his administration is liberal...AND at the end of the day his diplomacy-minded policies got him, his wife, and a lot of the human race killed.

Yea, they portray gun toting war-mongers like the general and Jack Black as foolish too but they weren't the ultimate decision makers.

So, I'm confused about why Burton and those who made this movie would be okay with making these "flower-power" hippies the ones that get everyone killed.

??? Don't make no sense! LOL

Because some people can have thoughts that aren't politically lock-step.
Once in a while a person is capable of self criticism... sometimes they can even see virtues in flaws simultaneously in political archetypes.
Some people, and you apparently might need to sit down for this, are moderates, an can see the good and bad in multiple viewpoints.

If it truly is impossible for you to understand that a person might have political leanings while not being an across-the-board apologist, or an unrelenting critic of all other political beliefs.. well, that's your baggage, not his.

In the age of Fox and MSNBC, it's sad that we lose sight of the fact that when a person has political opinions, being a polemic doesn't need to define the entirety of what they do and think

Has it ever occurred to you that maybe filmmakers just like to make silly movies and aren't the slightest bit interested in what stupid political point those movies are trying to make or what partisan "sports team" they're cheering for?

Most people don't filter everything they consume through a "left-right" political lens. It's a very self-destructive way to live.

The hawk vs dove thing is simply a theme that we see in these 1950s era Sci-Fi films. In the past it would have been the scientists in place of the peace-niks would go up against the militarists.

So it's just a parody of old Sci-Fi movie motifs.
