Samuel L. Jackson and Renny Harlin are in talks to revisit their 1996 action movie The Long Kiss Goodnight without the director's former leading lady and ex-wife Geena Davis.

Jackson has been quietly developing the project with Harlin for the past two years, and now the moviemaker reveals he has a storyline for a sequel, which would revolve around the Pulp Fiction star's character, Mitch Henessey.

The Finnish filmmaker tells MovieHole.net, "I do have a storyline for it that I worked out and I know exactly what would happen and I think it would be fantastic.

"I can reveal as much as saying it would be Sam Jackson crossing paths with Geena Davis' daughter from the first movie, who, in the first movie was about six years old, and who would now be about 19 or 20."

Harlin insists he is very interested in making the sequel - because The Long Kiss Goodnight is his favourite film experience.

He adds, "It’s a movie that had a really good screenplay, which meant that I was able to get really good actors... When you have characters that are complex and you have good drama, and some humour and some good action, you kind of have all the ingredients... It was a great experience.''

Give Jackson as Hennessey lots more killer one-liners, and it's all good!

It's made from bits of real panther, so you know it's good...

Took 'em long enough . The Long Kiss Goodnight is one of the most underrated flms of all time . It's up there with Way Of The Gun .

If Harlin and Jackson get Shane Black involved in this, I will officially be more excited for LKG2 than I am for The Expendibles - and that's saying something.

reply

Sweet! And I agree with you Yippee, to have Shane Black written the script, or atleast revised or given it his blessing would make it all the better movie.

It would be great if Yvonne Zima who played Caitlin (Geena Davis' daughter) in the first movie could reprise her role as well. She's aged very nicely!

reply

WOW - I haven't seen that girl since ER! She has aged quite nicely, and think that between her and Samuel L, you've got yourself a movie.

reply

YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!

reply

He should know that the little girl was 8 years old in the film. She would be 21-22 now.

Without Davis, why bother calling it a sequel? Is the name "Mitch Henessey" really worth that much? It was a good character, but it's identical to several other of his roles, they could just use a different name.

I hope they start the sequel soon.

As much as I love Samuel L. Jackson, and as much as I love The Long Kiss Goodnight, I won't go to see it unless Charlie Baltimore is a part of the story.

reply

Interesting, although I always assumed that both Sam and Mitch died in the car with the daughter, and that the CNN and hilltop scenes were dreams.
