Did the idea for this come from Total Recall?

In Total Recall, construction worker Douglas Quaid soon begins to have (real) memories of being an agent, after being married 8 years to Sharon Stone.

In Long Kiss Goodnight, school teacher Samantha soon begins to have memories of being a spy, after 8 years of having a blank past.

Anyone notice the similarities?

reply

Yes, it did.

reply

Doubtful even though they both involve amnesia. You could ask same question did Total Recall get it's idea from Bourne Identity? The book predates it by years and even a movie version with Richard Chamberlain previous to the ones with Matt Damon.

reply

Yes, in both movies, a lot of guns were used and people cursed. So it's very likely that it got its idea from Total Recall.

No, the writer clearly ripped of Robert Ludlum's "The Bourne Identy".

We Can Remember It for You Wholesale by Philip K. Dick first published in April 1966 is the inspiration for the 1990 science fiction film Total Recall.

reply

Yeah I remember Geena Davis running around shooting baddies on Mars just like Total Recall!
